FAQ Title Banner

Well, here we have the exciting and informative FAQ. However, since the comics aren't nearly popular enough to have any questions asked frequently, I've included virtually every question ever asked about the comics and me in relation to the comics. Also, feel free to click the banner above and send in any questions you don't see answered here. -Pestilence

Comics and Character Questions
Q: (This is the only actual frequently asked question) What exactly is the relationship between Trent & Kay?
A: As far as I know, they are the closest of friends, almost symbiotic in the fact that they are each the only person in the world that the other cares about at all. When I asked them for a more specific answer to the question, they said (in unison), "Bite me."

Q: Why doesn't Trent have a nose?
A: Take your pick: 1)So he doesn't have to smell the foul cesspool that is society. 2)I thought it made him look cooler. 3) I have no idea.

Q: What's up with Trent & Kay's eyes?
A: Well, either they're some kind of mutant night-vision eyes, and the black patches around them make it easier to focus the light somehow, or I read too many comic books with pupil-less heroes.

Q: Does Kay just have one shirt?
A: No, she has a plethora of shirts, but they do all say "evil" on them.

Q: Doesn't Kay know that smoking is bad for her?
A: I think Kay knows that smoking is bad for everyone else (and pisses some people off), but I don't really think it's applicable to her. But kids, don't smoke because Kay smokes. Or do, I don't really care.

Q: How can Trent & Kay be such good friends if Trent's so short and Kay's so tall?
A: Stop asking me stupid questions, peon.

Q: Are Trent & Kay immortal? If so, why the hell are they at Tufts?
A: They would seem to be more or less invulnerable (not necessarily immortal; time stops for no one), but it's possible that they have their weaknesses. As for why they're at Tufts, clearly they've gotten very bored.

Q: What are Trent & Kay's backgrounds?
A: Very little is known about pre-Tufts Trent & Kay, but what little information there is to be known is in the character sheets (follow the links at the bottom of the page).

Q: Why do Trent & Kay like to go to Hell?
A: It's a break from "life" at Tufts. For the record though, Kay has told me that, while it's a nice place to visit, she wouldn't want to live there.

Q: What's the deal with Dave Mabuse and Khate the Alty-Girl?
A: They have banded together against Trent & Kay, their common enemies. However, it would appear that Dave has forged this alliance grudgingly, unconvinced that Khate will be able to help him in his goal. If the question is asking if there is any romance between the two of them, I would have to say "no."

Q: Why does Trent let Khate kick his ass all the time? Couldn't he beat the shit out of her?
A: Trent has a weak spot for cute Alty-Girls, so he doesn't want to do anything that might make her think that he doesn't like her. However, these things wear thin after a while, and circumstances could change...

Behind-the-Scenes Questions
Q: Are all the characters people you know?
A: Not exactly. The characters, at least the re-occurring ones, are based on people I know, but are not necessarily any kind of an attempt at an exact likeness of them. Trent began as me, Kay is a form of my best friend Megan, etc. Most of the time, the people I know are simply inspiration for characters. For more specific information on each character, follow the quick links at the bottom of the page.

Q: Do you make characters based on all of your friends?
A: Nope, just those that seem to have a comics-friendly personality. With the exception of Trent & Kay, it's been somewhat random.

Q: Are you on drugs?
A: Not unless you count what our government puts in our water supply.

Q: Are there plans for Trent & Kay merchandise? Action Figures?
A: So far, the only Trent & Kay merchandise is the Limited Edition Trent & Kay T-Shirt. There may be another shirt somewhere down the line, depending on the interest in such a ludicrous thing. Also, there is a three-minute long computer animation video, which currently is not available to the public, because I did it two years ago and it looks like ca-ca. Finally, there are two Trent & Kay dolls in existence, made by my friend Steve Walker, but no plans for any kind of mass production on an action figure scale. It'd be cool though.

Q: Are there any plans for Trent & Kay to continue after you leave Tufts (Spring '98, hope, hope)?
A: I'd like to keep doing something with the characters, and I'll probably always draw them for fun, but there are no concrete plans for anything yet.

Q: You read a lot of comics, don't you?
A: I'm assuming this is a question about my influences, and if it's not, then we'll all just pretend it is. I like a lot of stuff, but more artists than writers. One exception is Jhonen Vasquez, who does an amazing job at both with his comic "Johnny the Homicidal Maniac." If you've never heard of it, go to your comics store and ask them, 'cause it's probably the best comic ever made. Also, I like James O'Barr's work on the first Crow story a lot. The other artists I follow are a bunch of Image Comics guys; Jim Lee's the man (although I think his work on "X-Men" six years ago was his best). J. Scott Campbell's work on "Gen 13" is beautiful. I like Todd McFarlane ("Spiderman" and "Spawn") but not in a way that I try to incorporate any of his style into my own. And lately I've been liking everything Humberto Ramos does, especially "Gen 13: The Unreal World" and "DV8." This is a severely incomplete list, so for more on this stuff, please check out my own homepage: Pestilence's Pit

Q: Are you a Satan worshipper?
A: No.
